I downloaded this utility, and when I typed imessage -t "Did you get this" -c "friend@friend.com", (Not the actual email address. He has iMessage) it says 157:259: execution error: Messages got an error: Can’t get buddy "friend@friend.com" of service 1 whose service type = iMessage. (-1728)

Is this a known issue, and how can I get it fixed?

Have you tried to send an iMessage to your friend with the Message.app?
